Sewer Pipe Storage

Looking for an option to store the sewer dump hose I found that the new Rhinoflex Hose that I have has nice swivel fittings but they didn't fit in any of the pre-made 4 inch tubes. I ended up making my own from 6 inch PVC pipe and mounting it on my bumper.

I made it by cutting the pipe to desired length and gluing screw on fittings on the end for the removable caps. That part was simple the mounting took more thought.

I cut two 2x4 boards with the curvature of the pipe OD, it happend to be the same size as my cordless circular saw blade so matching the profile ended up being easy.

I then painted them black to match the bumper and set them and the pipe on the bumper in the desired position. I lifted the pipe slightly and hot glued one board to the pipe and the other. I did this to keep them square to the bumper when I drilled the holes in the boards and the pipe. I took the pipe off (with the glued on boards) and marked and drilled it.

I also drilled some vent/drain holes in the bottom of the pipe.

After the holes were in the boards and pipe I placed back on the bumper and used a scribe to transfer the holes onto the bumper to be drilled.

Then I drilled the holes and bolted it down. I used some random bolts I had, I plan to buy some stainless ones to replace. Hint on this, install the inner bolt closest to the center first, then the outer so you aren't fighting the wrench on the outer bolt trying to do the inner bolt.

I also made a pull out tray from a 4 inch PVC gutter. I simply cut to length and made a handle out of wood on each side. The whole 8 feet holds my 15ft main hose and 10ft extension perfectly.

All done, I can remove the cap on either end and slide the tray out.

The PVC pipe, two threaded fittings, two caps and PVC gutter cost about $65. I already had some pressure treated 2x4, PVC glue and temporary bolts to hold it down, if you don't have a barn full of leftover stuff from other projects you would need these too.
