Saying, "Hello!" as a new member

Greetings, Everyone! I stumbled upon this group, (and joined) as I was doing research on a 2003 Sunline Solaris Lite T-2363 I looked at last night as a possible first camper. I'm a single, senior lady who has ideas of getting a self contained camper so I can be more actively responding to disaster recovery sites with a faith-based organization I've worked with. I've been part of leadership teams of volunteers on site in rolling 4-week or longer assignments, doing things that support our teams of 10-35 short-term volunteers that come for 1-2 weeks to clear debris, tarp homes, muck out damaged possessions and building materials, so later teams can make home repairs, and even do some complete rebuilds. Our organization may be on location for several months to a decade helping communities recover. The long-term volunteers stay long enough to get acquainted, build relationships, encourage survivors and provide continuity, and smooth transitions for the overall project sites. it's very rewarding work, but can also be stressful at times because we see and hear so much of the effects on our clients' lives. My particular area is to maintain all kinds of records; be a communicator between our project, locals, clients, short-term volunteer teams as they travel from all parts of US & Canada; to pay project bills, and lots of other "office management" tasks. So far, I've only been part of "Early Response Teams" that go in right after search and rescue operations, up til about 3-4 months later. "Recovery" teams start after that doing bigger repairs and home rebuilds. Our organization may be running a dozen or more projects in US & Canada at any time. They usually have one or two that are RV Projects, where the volunteers go in their own RV's, prepare their own meals, and have a shorter workday and shorter work week that appeals to some seniors not as spry as the teams in their 20's to 40's. I think I'd like to give that a try, and do a bit of meandering on my way home after my assignment is done. Thus--my search for an appropriate RV! My TV is a 2018 Toyota Highlander XLE with a tow capacity of 5000#. The T-2363 I looked at had a plate listing G?WR of 2395# and I came looking to learn if this camper (that blew me away with layout and condition for the price!) will work for my TV. I did see that the 2004 model had a weight of 4200# but the plate said it was manufactured in 2003, though the seller bought it new in 2004. I'm still trying to digest all I read, particularly all that John B had written. Right now my head is spinning, spinning, spinning! I will have some gear for cooking etc, and clothes, but it will be only what I need for myself and not include a lot of extra "stuff" that isn't essential. I may need to load my fresh water tank a hundred miles or so before my destination if I'm on early response, but wouldn't have to travel the whole way with it loaded. Had also seen some T-1950 online that could work, though I REALLY loved the T-2363 layout! For now, I need some shut eye and mental rest. I'll be back!

Couch Bed

We have '85 Sunline that we got about 2 years ago. We absolutely love it, except for the cushion for the couch that pulls out into a bed is very old and very thin. Typically no one sleeps on it, except for a time or two when family tag along. We have a trip coming up in about a week, and thought about using an extra air mattress we have on top of that bed for our guests. We are just unsure of how much weight that bed can hold. We never did get an owners manual for it, and every Google search has come up empty. I know an air mattress doesn't weigh all that much, but both the people coming with are of (not to be mean) pretty decent size. We just want to make sure the bed will hold them both and the air mattress. It's just your typical couch that pulls out into about a full size bed. Any answers would be appreciated!!

Shower Door Does Stay Closed?

When looking at it, I don’t see how it stays shut?

Never thought about it until now when all of a sudden it won’t stay closed
Took a shower this morning and it was fine

It rolls out but won’t stay closed

What is it that keeps it closed?? There is no type of hatch I see??

However, I can’t take a shower if it won’t stay closed 😢

Couple of new mods/reworks

Got a few things done before I leave for a 4 day outing to Cleveland to visit Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Pro Football Hall of Fame. Finally installed the MaxAire cover over the bedroom roof vent. Tied it into the light wiring close by. It will be nice to have positive ventilation (in or out) on cool nights. I also replaced the bathroom "whizzer" fan with a Heng Vortex II. 3 speeds out, 2 in, with a much larger blade for more airflow. Installs from inside the camper (no need to break any roof seals) and has an easily detachable screen. About 30 minutes start to finish using existing wiring and existing trim ring. Around $65 on EBay with free delivery. Pics to follow.

Pex Connection Question

Bought a new toilet for the T-2370 and need to add about 2” to the water supply. Bought a Pex cutter and will be adding a cut of valve with Shark Bite. I’ve never worked with Pex before or Shark Bite. How critical is the cut? I see they sell a de-burring tool. Do I need that?

I’d like to do it right the first time.

Arrived yesterday for 4 nights. Very nice campground in Thompson, Ohio, about 45 minutes from Cleveland. Level, stone sites, plenty of grassy space, lots if amenities (including cable!), and very nice staff. Quite a few seasonal site, it appears. Will explore later. Pictures when I get home since no wifi and I don't know how to post pics from my phone. I'm not on tapatalk yey.

LED Lights

We've replaced some of the many lights in our Sunline with the great SuperBright LED's. It was cost prohibitive to do all of the lights so I looked for another source. Just got these from Amazon and we have installed as many as we need. They are really good. Reviews are good, so I think we found a decent deal and our camper is 100% LED inside.

My Rant

I can now understand why people in frustration decide to buy a new but lesser quality RV.

After 3 different Sunlines I have looked at or been looked at for me by others (thank you “Wannabes” Lisa & Matthew) leaks and/or plain neglect (but listed in excellent condition) were found

These once beautiful trailers were ruined by people who failed to do
their adult responsible of learning the “how to” of care and maintenance

Would you never change the oil in your car?

I am truly amazed, frustrated and saddened :(

I will be happy with my 1950 that I work very hard to maintain

Rant Over, thank you

Just bought a rather used 1991 T2362. The plan is to park this at our daughter’s land in northern Arizona. There are zero hook ups there. So, it a generator, drag water up there until a “water tower” is built and dig a cess pit. For now, going through the camper bit by bit. So far I need an electric refrigerator/freezer, thinking of an Engel; the converter is bad, so swapping that out this weekend, haven’t tested the water heater yet, hope to this weekend also. The stove worked, but had to replace the propane tanks. Also, added a second battery (2 new batteries) and went with 100% LEDs. My current stumbling block is the water pressure. It’s nothing more than a trickle. Is there an in-line filter, a pressure regulator, or other adjustable choke point?

Full time in the Sunline

Some times it's hell on wheels in this beast but at the end of the day it's
rewards are always evident. Peace, comfort (No thanks to original design), relief of overpriced bills, and of course freedom!

25 yo who has wanted to live mobile since I was 13. Family always said I was crazy, and...... they are right! Lol. But myself and I get a long quite well so it all works out in the end. Slowly but surely tailoring the satelite to fit my living habits/routines. Started with deck removal and reframing of rear room (was a bit of a chore) luckily I am an ex convict and was left with only construction jobs available ftmp, cause all my building skills have made all of the difference in this remod.

Oh, did I mention I don't spend a dime on any projects..... yep, everything is scrapped, found, gifted, or picked from a dumpster. I only use what is strong or otherwise in good to great condition but the materials are more common than you might think. See that couch..... well sunline had the weak/borderline dangerous "pull out" and pass through storage. It was rotted to hell so when I was reinforcing it at first I changed my mind, tossed it and used a gym locker (laid horizontal) in place of it. A bit more weight but also has plenty of lockable organization space and most of all..strength. relocated clean water tank and hot water heater adding tons of space to the bedroom, pushed the acordian door to be parallel with edge of fridge and bathroom doors As well. carpet in back room, waiting on the hard floor to find me for the front.

There are tons of things I have changed that you can't see or wouldn't notice unless I pointed out. I'll try and get some photos up here soon to show the more unique changes, give you something to inspire or if nothing else have a good laugh. Appreciate the love in the sunline family.

Keep on trucking friends, but don't forget to stop and enjoy the sun 😉

(Wish I had more project relevant pictures for you at the moment.)

Also does anyone have a suggestion as a permanent replacement option for the window to the right of the door? Thought of a 12volt window ac setup to use at night to keep the ceiling monster quiet as often as possible but not set on anything yet. The sky is the limit as far as ideas go.
Also in process of removing tub & bathroom sink/cabinets to add more floor space to bedroom. Who tf needs two sinks in a 20 by 8 rolling hallway, lol. And there is a million places to shower and in case of emergency there is rain water filtration and collection in process for exterior rear gravity flow shower head.

(Located in central Florida 40 minutes from multiple beaches.)

Nice Twin Bed find

1996 T1550 for sale near Ann Arbor, Michigan $2500

Sunline Solaris T1550, very clean inside. New tires installed in 2017, but used on one 440 mile round-trip run. New awning installed 2014, new toilet (never used), new water heater (never used). I did not use any of the water tanks, holding or waste water. Sofa pulls out into double bed, dining table folds down into double bed, shelf over sofa is a sleeper for a person under 100 lbs. Everything works: AC, water systems, brakes, all electric, refrigerator, heater, stove. I never traveled outside of a 200-mile distance from home. There are soft spots in the floor which I was planning to address by laying a new floor over it and tested this plan on my last trip, which felt very sturdy. The AC needs a new shroud. Both propane tanks still have fuel in them. I was told when I bought it that the unloaded weight is 2200 lbs. I'm asking $2500.

I'd like to post more interior photos - someone please tell me if we are permitted more than 6?

Bunk Bed Weight Limit

Can anyone tell me what the weight limit is on a stacked bunk bed for a 1996 Sunline saturn 24A? When we purchased our trailer, our son was only 5 so it wasn't an issue. But now that he is a teenager and growing into a young man, I'd like to make sure whether or not it is still safe for him to be sleeping in the upper bunk. I've searched the forums and the manuals that came with he trailer, but can't find anything. I appreciate any info you can give me. Thank you!

Greetings all. I am totally new to RV camping. I am a recent proud owner of a 1987 Satellite T1850, which needs some TLC. I reside on the west side of Rochester, NY and recently retired. Bringing this camper back to life is my first major retirement project. Hoping to get out camping in Sept. Maybe I will see you there!
