I am so impressed with my new to me 2017 RAM 1500 Diesel truck when it comes to mileage ratings. My 2011 RAM 1500 Hemi towed my 2553 while getting about 10 MPG at speeds of 55 and under. Mileage dropped to 9 or a little lower with higher speeds. My Diesel truck gets 17 MPG at 70 MPH and 21 MPG at 55 and lower. Mileage when not towing is 30 highway and 21 in the city. That compares to my Hemi which got 21 on the freeway and 13 in the city. Buying a slightly used Diesel costs almost the same as the Hemi so the mileage difference is a fabulous bonus. Loss of acceleration power was a concerned as the Hemi practically blows most cars away off the line. The Diesel has plenty of get up and go when merging the camper onto the freeway.
